Brick Pavilion is an autonomous structure, detached from an existing residence, separated by a covered stair and deck that mitigate the 48” elevation difference between the two. The Pavilion is designed to provide space for both interior social gatherings and home workspace, along with additional storage and a pool bath. The covered connection provides space for outdoor cooking. The lower deck extends into the landscape to envelop a small pool in which to cool off during the hot Texas summers. An outdoor fireplace provides an occasional cozy respite from the short Texas winters. On the opposite side of a new landscape division between rear yard and front stands a carport designed to provide vehicle protection while the new deck will provide the primary access for the residents.
